Introduction
At Signal Index, we understand that data privacy is one of the most pressing concerns in the modern digital age. We have designed our tool from the ground up to minimize data collection and maximize user anonymity. This Privacy Policy outlines the types of information we do (and do not) collect, how we use it, and the security measures we employ to protect your information when you visit and use our website.
By using the Signal Index service, you consent to the data practices described in this statement. If you do not agree with the data practices described in this Privacy Policy, you should not use the Website.
1. Information We Collect
Because our core philosophy is to provide a "No Sign-Up Needed" service, we fundamentally collect far less information than traditional SaaS applications. Here is a breakdown of what we interact with:
- URL Inputs: The primary data we process is the domain names you input into our scanning tool. This data is actively processed by our backend to initiate the crawler but is not permanently stored or tied to your personal identity. We do not maintain historical logs of which domains a specific IP address has scanned.
- Server Log Information: Like almost all websites on the internet, our servers automatically record standard log information when you visit. This can include your IP address, browser type, operating system, referral URLs, device information, and interactions with our web pages. This data is used strictly for diagnostic, security, and rudimentary analytics purposes to ensure server health.
- Communication Data: If you reach out to us via our Contact form, we collect your name, email address, and the contents of your message. We solely use this information to respond to your specific inquiry and provide customer support.
2. How We Use the Data
The minimal data we do collect is utilized in the following ways:
- Providing the Core Service: We process the URLs you provide to actually execute the automated HTTP requests and return the "No-Index" reports to your browser session.
- Server Maintenance & Security: We analyze server logs to protect against DDoS attacks, scraping attempts, malicious botnets, and to generally troubleshoot performance bottlenecks on our backend infrastructure.
- Improving User Experience: We look at aggregate, anonymized interaction data (like which buttons are clicked most frequently) to refine our UI/UX and make Signal Index easier to use over time.
3. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Signal Index may use "cookies" and similar tracking technologies to enhance your experience. A cookie is a small text file placed on your hard disk by a web server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer.
We primarily use localized cookies or HTML5 Web Storage strictly for session management (for instance, temporarily holding state variables while your scan runs). We do not use invasive third-party tracking pixels to follow you across the internet for advertising purposes. You have the ability to accept or decline cookies through your browser settings, though declining them may impair some functionality of the asynchronous scanning tool.
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
Signal Index does not sell, rent, lease, or distribute your personal information to third parties. We do not sell lists of scanned domains to marketing agencies or competitors.
We may only share data under the following exceptional circumstances:
- Legal Requirements: We will disclose your information, without notice, only if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on Signal Index.
- Protection of Rights: We may disclose information when investigating potential fraud, unauthorized activities, or violations of our Terms of Service to protect and defend the rights or property of Signal Index.
- Service Providers: We may occasionally employ third-party companies and individuals (such as hosting providers like AWS or Cloudflare) to facilitate our Service. These third parties have access to raw server logs only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.
5. Data Exporting
When you click "Export CSV" or "Copy to Clipboard", that processing happens entirely client-side within your browser. You are downloading the data that was temporarily pushed to your session by our server. We do not retain a copy of the finalized CSV file on our servers after you leave the page.
6. Security of Your Information
We secure your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. When personal information (like an email address in the contact form) is transmitted, it is protected through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol. We enforce HTTPS across the entirety of Signal Index. However, no data transmission over the Internet or wireless network can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
7. Children Under Thirteen
Signal Index does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of thirteen. Our tools are built for web professionals and site owners. If you are under the age of thirteen, you must ask your parent or guardian for permission to use this website.
8. Changes to this Privacy Policy
Signal Index will occasionally update this Privacy Policy to reflect company and customer feedback, or changes in regulatory requirements (such as GDPR or CCPA). We encourage you to periodically review this page to be informed of how we are protecting your information. Your continued use of the website indicates your acceptance of the most current version.
